Tough Conditions Right Now

Right now, on the rivers we fish, they are either too high and dirty or too low and clear.  All of this makes steelhead fishing challenging.  With that said, here’s the latest from the frontlines.

Despite the tough conditions, there are steelhead in the systems we fish.  The key right now is to book full days, cover lots of water and drop your leader, beads, hooks and flies down.  This time of year make sure to not only fish the transition water but choke points, and buckets.

The Grand River is currently dirty and high at 7500 cfs.  It’s coming down nicely and by mid-November, should be in nice shape for steelhead fishing.

We have become an Orvis Endorsed Fly-Fishing Outfitter.  This is something that Max and I have been working on for quite sometime.  We have partner with them and their corporate store in Grand Rapids, Michigan to offer our clients the full fly-fishing resources of Orvis.   We’ll continue to offer spin-fishing but also introduce and add fly-fishing to our guide trips.  Stay tuned, as more will becoming from us on events, education and product.

As we approach Thanksgiving, Max and I have much to be thankful for.  We have had an incredible year at Werkman Outfitters.  We’d like to thank all of those that have booked with us this year and are already booking into next year.  We still have availability in November and December so give us call for some steelhead fishing.
