The Grand River bayous in and near Spring Lake and Grand Haven hold some of the best early season bass and northern pike action in west Michigan.

The marshy outlets of Grand River contain stumps, lily pads, slow currents and lush vegetation. Perfect habiat for monster fish. The lower Grand, has series of deep water holes, which are sleeper spots for bass, pike and walley that a lot of anglers miss.

The most productive bayous in this system are Pottawattomie, Sterns, Bruces and Lloyds.

During the spring, and in the right places, the lower Grand gives the angler a legitimate shot at connecting with 10 to 15-pound pike. In addition, there is the occasional monster pike that can push 20 pounds
