Werkman Outfitters, located in Grand Haven, Michigan, offers year-round fishing guide service. Our fishing guides run on the Grand River, in and near Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Muskegon River and the White River. In addition to river fishing, we also offer fishing charters on Lake Michigan and during the winter months, when ice conditions allow, guided inland lake ice fishing.
Having spent many years together chasing salmon, steelhead, trout, northern pike and both smallmouth and largemouth bass, Tom started the business with his son Max. It was his hope, that the business would weave a thread through their lives and help them stay connected as time passed. As the business grew, however, he soon realized that is wasn’t just the business that connected them, but the fishing.
Our relationship has always been about fishing and the common stories Max and I share as a result. It’s our hope, that through a trip with us, you’ll find your own stories.Tom Werkman

When it comes to fishing there is no guarantee that every trip will result in success. For that reason, we have assembled a team that has over 80 years of combined river guide and charter boat experience to help you get on and land fish.
Our philosophy is simple. We use multiple fishing techniques to catch multiple species of fish to maximize your success on the water. These techniques include, fly fishing, center pin, back plug and traditional light spin gear.
First of all, our fishing guides are fully permitted by United States Forest Service to guide on the White River and by the State of Michigan to guide on the Grand and Muskegon Rivers. In addition, some of our guides have their Merchant Mariner Credentials with the designation of Captain. The United States Coast Guard has issued these credentials which allow our captains access on all federal waters of the Great Lakes and its tributaries.
There is more than one method to catching fish. So book with Werkman Outfitters to make the most of your time on the water.
Werkman Outfitters donates to the preservation and improvement of Michigan’s wild fisheries. In addition, 100% of our home-office’s electrical need is supported by renewable energy through Consumers Green Energy Program.
