Werkman Outfitters offers fishing guide service on the Grand River, in and near Grand Rapids, Michigan. Depending on migratory run times and river flow rates, from time to time we may fish a couple other West Michigan rivers near Grand Rapids. In addition to river fishing, we also offer fishing charters on Lake Michigan and during the winter months, when ice conditions allow, guided inland lake ice fishing.
Why We Started the Company:
Having spent many years together chasing salmon, steelhead, trout, northern pike and both smallmouth and largemouth bass, Tom started the business with his son Max. It was his hope, that the business would weave a thread through their lives and help them stay connected as time passed. As the business grew, however, he soon realized that is wasn’t just the business that connected them, but the fishing.
When it comes to fishing there is no guarantee that every trip will result in success. For that reason, we have assembled a team of fishing guides that have over 80 years of combined river and charter boat experience. Pour guides will help you get on and land fish.
Our philosophy is simple, we connect our clients to the water through fishing. To do this, we use multiple fishing techniques to catch multiple species of fish to maximize your success on the water. These techniques include, fly fishing, center pin, back plug and traditional light spin gear.
Licensed & Permitted:
First of all, our fishing guides are fully permitted by United States Forest Service to guide on the White River and by the State of Michigan to guide on the Grand and Muskegon Rivers. In addition, some of our guides have their Merchant Mariner Credentials with the designation of Captain. The United States Coast Guard has issued these credentials which allow our captains access on all federal waters of the Great Lakes and its tributaries.
There is more than one method to catching fish. So book with Werkman Outfitters to make the most of your time on the water.
