Werkman Outfitters is a Grand River guide service company. We specialize in fly and light tackle trips for steelhead, salmon, trout, northern pike and both smallmouth and largemouth bass on the Grand River in and near Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Our philosophy is simple; use multiple fishing techniques to catch multiple species of fish to maximize success on the water. As a result of our philosophy, our guides use different fishing techniques depending on river conditions. Those techniques include fly fishing, center pin, back plug and traditional light spin gear.
Following this philosophy, depending on the time year, water flows and migration times, we may fish other rivers such as the Muskegon or White.
Our guides are fully permitted by both the United States Forest Service, to guide on the White River, and the State of Michigan, to guide on the Grand River and Muskegon River. In addition, some of our guides have their Merchant Mariner Credentials. These are issued by the United States Coast Guard and allows them to guide on all federal waters. For us, those waters include the lower Grand River, lower Muskegon River and Lake Michigan.
In addition to guided river trips we also offer Lake Michigan charters for salmon, trout and steelhead from April through September. Our home port is Yacht Basin, slip D-3, in Holland, Michigan.
From the Grand River to Lake Michigan and everything in between, Werkman Outfitters has you covered for all your fishing trips. So if you don’t want to be stuck with just one method of fishing to catch fish, then book your trip with us and enjoy your time on the water.
Werkman Outfitters donates to the preservation and improvement of Michigan’s wild fisheries. In addition, 100% of our home office’s electrical need is supported by renewable energy through Consumers Green Energy Program.
