Sorry for the quick update but we’ve been busy. The Grand River is coming down nicely from all the rains we had from the leftovers of Hurricane Beryl and we’ve slowly started to fish it from being on the Muskegon. Here’s the latest from the frontlines.
On the fly side, we are finally seeing some decent topwater action throughout the weedlines and next to structure. Both Zudbubblers and Boogle Bugs are working. Finessing the bug and long pauses are the name of the game.
One the streamer side we’ve been doing well on Murdich Minnow’s.
On the spin side, ned rigs have been the ticket. We are finding smallmouth in the deeper rock sections. Try using natural colors.
Fly Shop Update
If you don’t already know, Max and I are opening a fly shop in Ada, Michigan in December. We’re right on the Grand River at 493 Pettis Ave., SE, Ada. The demo work is complete and we are now in the buildout stage.
We’ll carry Sage, Redington, Echo, Patagonia, Rio Products, Loon, Airflow, Dr. Slick, Montana Fly Company, Hardline, Renzetti, Smith Optics, Duck Camp, etc.
If you haven’t done so already, follow us on Instagram for all things the shop.
Salmon Update
Salmon season is fast approaching and by all indications it should be another good year like last year. The charter boats continue to do well on Lake Michigan.
We have dates available starting at the end of September through the third week in October.
If you want to get in on the salmon action this year, it’s better to contact us earlier than later. Like all years, we book up fast!
