Grand River Fishing Reports

The Swing Game
River levels continue to remain low and with the rain and potential snow in the forecast, we should see a slight bump in flows. The salmon have pretty much done their business, which means the steelhead have dropped back to the lower sections of rivers. We have been running both spey and indicator trips and have been finding success on both.
Right now, the set up for spey fishing is floating lines, with lighter weight sink tips. The flies are black colored leach patterns, with orange heads and decent amount of flash. If you're indicator fishing, since we are post salmon spawn, we are using more milked out egg patters in peach and cream colors. With the low water, it seems like we keep repeating ourselves with the rigging. We continue to use longer leaders, 18" to 24", with BB/AB shot above the barrel swivel.
We're excited to see what the steelhead do with the upcoming weather pattern shift, hopefully we'll see a fresh push.
